Post APP and the CS
Hi All, sorry for the silence. Did some additional work on our version (ALERT TO ALL WHO HAVE HAD AN EARLY VERSION FROM OURSELVES OR CUMBRIA) and think I am pleased with it now. It has gone back for reprocessing and I should have it for final read on Tuesday. Hopefully it could be on the web site by Friday,

I am quite excited because I think it enables everyone who is now comfey with the scales to still use the deatil for accurate, consistent assessment and then transfer the judgements onto the APP grid. Hope you are all as pleased when you get it....

Agree with Bluerose's comment in a different thread re moderation. A quick and easy way is to pop a piece of writing on every chair in the staffroom before a staffmeeting once a month, ask all to bring their scales and as they sit down with coffee they assess the piece - 5 mins only - then 5 mins to discuss the judgements and job's a good 'un. 10 mins a month can't be arduous but keeps us all in trim. Use Level 2 every 3 or 4 pieces - it is THE most important level...

Ros

Post APP
We are having to use APP and we have just had a very long discussion which took over most of our meeting about how it links with the BW scale.

I am getting all staff to actually do a big writing next week, I think they need to experience it to get it right as our VCOP and BW has a lot of variation now that it has been running a while and they are not all good! We also have a lot of new staff who need to be trained. We will also be looking at how to fit in APP!

Post Criterion Scale with APP references free on website
Hi All, hope you have all found our new freebie - the AF referenced Criterion Scale adapted from Cumbria's. Many schools are reporting it is reall helpful as they assess as usual on the Scales and then 'lift' the appropriate AFs off onto the APP grid. Happy assessing! Ros
