Post picture books for topics
Hello all,

I have just begun to use the picture book 'Tuesday' by David Wiesner in my year 4 class with fantastic results!! I have been asked to come up with ideas for a new picture book for our next topic 'Lost and found' linked to the Anglo Saxons. I am really keen on the picture books with lack of words as our year 4 classes have really responded to this (especially the boys :) ) however, I am open to suggestions.

Any ideas???

Hi Sam,

You are operating in the domain of the 2 whats... talking about stimulus...

I can think of loads of idea that relate lost and found to the Anglo Saxons, especialy when you think of the trauma of invasion and settlement, rape and slavery.

However, I must say this is not the domain of Big W (although it will increasingly be as we widen the picture of how writing works with the demise of the National Strategies) and we would be much more consumed with HOW children wrote about this rather than WHAT they wrote... if you see what I mean.

Always happy to help, however, so do write again if you think I can... Ros

Hi Ros,

Thanks, however, I think I've posted this in the wrong thread (Maybe someone can move it to 'creative curriculum?!?) . Let me explain. We have just started doing the creative curriculum and have used your fabulous book to guide us through the process. We try to start each new topic with a 'hook' and we have found that using a book to create this stimulus has worked wonders :D Just wondered if anyone could help me as I have not taught the Anglo Saxons before.

Thanks x
